Doris M. Barker, 83, Odessa, MO. Passed away at her home on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 after a lengthy illness. Funeral services for Doris will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at 3:00 pm at Mt. Tabor Church, rural Odessa. Visitation will be held on Saturday also from 1:00 pm until service time. Burial will be in Odessa City Cemetery and memorials may be made to the Mt. Tabor Church or Kansas City Hospice.

Doris Maxine Smith was born on January 4, 1931 in Craig, MO. to William and Lena Smith. Doris married James “J.B.” Barker on September 20, 1964 in Odessa, MO. Doris had worked as a shipping supervisor for Harmon Electronics and had retired from there. Doris was a member of Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church.

Doris is survived by her husband, J.B. of the home, her children, Lennard “Lenny” and Vonnie McGaugh, Springfield, MO; Jerry and Janet Buis, Odessa, Darlene and Rusty Hall, Blue Springs, MO; Charlene and Randy Merrsman, Corder, Mo; and James Allen Barker, Odessa, MO. There are 13 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Additional survivors include her brother, Herman Hodges, Topeka, Kansas and a sister, Mavis Skaggs, St. Joseph, MO. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Annie Taylor, Barbara Pearson and Frances Smith, brothers, Charles & Tommy Smith, Bud, Harold and Herbert Hodges. A granddaughter, Kelsie Barker and Great grandson, Aidan Hall.
