Donald Dean Westerhold

Donald Dean Westerhold, 89, of Odessa, Missouri passed away on Monday, January 30, 2017 at home surrounded by family.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 2, 2017 at the Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church, 12507 Mt. Tabor Rd., Odessa, MO, 64076. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at the Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, 306 S. 2nd St., Odessa, MO, 64076, 816-633-5524. Burial with military rites will be in the Mt. Tabor Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church. Donald was born on May 31, 1927 in Odessa, MO to William and Della (Doak) Westerhold. He graduated from Odessa High School in 1945. Donald was drafted into the United States Army and served during World War II in Korea until he was honorably discharged. He married Maxine (Fox) Westerhold on September 11, 1949 in Fayetteville, MO. He retired from the General Motors Leeds Plant in Kansas City, MO after 30 years of service. In addition to working at GM, Donald also farmed and raised cattle. He was a member of the Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church. He served on the Building Board and also helped with the upkeep of the church of many years. In addition to spending time with his family and friends, Donald enjoyed traveling.

Donald is survived by his wife, Maxine Westerhold of Odessa, MO; a son, Larry Westerhold of Odessa, MO; seven grandchildren, Angie Meads and husband Rick, Michelle Dowell, Misty Westerhold, Justin Westerhold and Damon Westerhold and wife Brandie all of Odessa, MO, Michael Miller of Holden, MO and Michelle Runnels of Independence, MO; 16 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; and one brother, Shirley Westerhold and wife Verna of Concordia, MO.

In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Sue (Westerhold) Ailor; a daughter-in-law, Toni (Miller) Westerhold; and two brothers, Denzil Westerhold and Dale Westerhold.
