Donald Roy Tye

Donald Roy Tye, 80, of Grain Valley Missouri, formerly of Odessa, MO, passed away on Friday, August 27, 2021, at Ignite Medical Resort in Blue Springs, MO.

A visitation will be held from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm on Friday, September 10, 2021, at Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, 306 S. 2nd Street, Odessa, MO, 64076, 816-633-5524. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm, at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery 20109 Bus. Hwy 13 in Higginsville, MO. Memorials in lieu of flowers to Long Branch Baptist Church. Donald was born on June 17, 1941, to John Leroy and Hazel Lenora (Smith) Tye in Odessa, MO. He enlisted in the United States Navy on September 21, 1960, in Kansas City, MO, serving until honorably discharged on September 18, 1964. During his service in the Navy, Donald served on the U.S.S. Hector (AR-7). On July 14, 1989, Donald was united in marriage to JoAnn (Ellison) Singer. He retired in 1986 from the GM Leeds Assembly Plant in Kansas City and was a member of the UAW Local 93 and the Long Branch Baptist Church. In addition to spending time with family and friends, Donald enjoyed playing cards and dominoes with friends and family.

Survivors include two children, Clint Tye and wife Pam of Blue Springs, MO and Tracy Wren and husband Brett of Grain Valley, MO; a brother Joel Tye of Odessa, MO; two sisters, Joyce Schemmer and husband Marvin of Odessa, MO and Virginia Bertz of Higginsville, MO; two grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, Donald was preceded in death by a brother John Tye.
