Donald Ewing Helphrey, 85, of Odessa, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at the Golden Living Center in Odessa, MO.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 20, 2015 at the Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, 306 S. 2nd St., Odessa, MO, 64076, 816-633-5524, with Reverend Terry Hodges officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the McKendree Cemetery. Donald was born on August 5, 1929 in Odessa, Missouri to Walton and Ernestine (Barnett) Helphrey. Donald married Iris Irene (Kirk) Helphrey on September 2, 1955 in Pittsville, MO. Irene preceded him in death on August 25, 2013. Donald retired from Allis Chalmers where he worked in the parts ordering department. In addition to spending time with his family and friends, Donald enjoyed traveling and camping. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Odessa.
Survivors include a daughter Melody Kohout and husband Jerry of Denton, Texas; three grandchildren, Jake Kohout and wife Catherine of Keller, TX, Spencer Kohout of Keller, TX and Sterling Kohout of Denton, TX; two great grandchildren, Ryan and Ashley Kohout of Keller, TX; two brothers, Howard Helphrey and wife Judy of Odessa, MO and Dale Helphrey and wife Rosie of San Bernardino, California, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Donald was preceded in death by a sister, Edith Craft.
