Burnis Dale DeAtley, 73, of Odessa, Missouri passed away on September 17, 2013 at home surrounded by family. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 21, 2013 at the Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, 306 S. Second St., Odessa, MO, 64076, 816-633-5524, with Reverend David Howie officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral Home. www.ralphojones.com. Dale was born on October 6, 1939 in rural Lafayette County to Burnis Hallar and Edna Bernice (Thomas) DeAtley. In 1958 he graduated from College High School in Warrensburg, MO. On August 31, 1985 Dale was united in marriage to Mary Jane (Wilson) DeAtley in Odessa, MO who survives of the home. He was a Master Printer who worked for many local printers. Dale retired in 2002 from James Printing Company after 20 years. Dale enjoyed all aspects of Indian relics from attending shows and meetings and reading about them. He was a member of the Greater St. Louis Archaeological Society, The Genuine Indian Relic Society and a past member of the Sedalia-West Central MO Archaeological Society. Some of Dales most peaceful times were spent in creeks and fields looking for Indian artifacts. In addition to his wife Mary Jane, Dale is survived by four children, Kevin Dwayne DeAtley and wife Janna of Victorville, California, Rhonda Kaye Smith and husband Neil of Odessa, MO, Jacqueline Gayle Coy and husband Clifford of Foley, Alabama and Sandy Leigh Hon and husband Dennis of Odessa, MO; two sisters, Ellen Nace of Warrensburg, MO and Mary Ann Oster and husband Bob of Independence, MO; twelve grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Dale was preceded in death by two children, Roger Dale DeAtley and Leo Bryan La Matry.
