Denis Douglas Oliva, 76 of Lexington, Missouri passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at home surrounded by family.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Thursday, June 20, 2024, at the Walker-Nadler-Fuller Funeral Home, 1720 South St., Lexington, MO, 64067, 660-259-2245. A time of sharing will take place from 7:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, June 20, 2024, at the funeral home. A graveside service with Military Honors will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 21, 2024, at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, 20109 Bus, MO-13, Higginsville, MO, 64037. Denis was born on August 24, 1947, in Plymouth, Indiana to John Gabriel and Erma (Zamora) Oliva. After graduating from Wentworth Military Academy High School, Denis earned his associates degree from Wentworth Military Academy College. Denis then attended the University of Texas at El Paso where he also played football. Denis was a Veteran of the United States Army serving in Vietnam and was awarded a Bronze Star in addition to numerous other medals and decorations. He was Christian by faith and a life member of the VFW Post 4052 in Lexington. Denis owned and operated Voila Enterprises, where he was known by many in the community and surrounding towns as an excellent painter. In addition to painting Denis owned and maintained many rental homes as well as helping many families. Denis had accomplished much in his life, but his greatest was his family, he loved spending time with his daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren. In addition, he enjoyed riding motorcycles, traveling, and was a car enthusiast.
Denis is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Gabriel Maria Hoey and Tristan Hoey of Wellington, MO; twelve grandchildren, Emmrick Gabriel Hoey, Emelia Zamora Hoey, Leon Roosevelt Hoey, Brittany Carter, Austin Carter, Chase Looney, Abigal Kennedy, Tysen Zeller, Lennox Zeller, Caylie Moore, Phoenix Kreie, and Pazliey Kreie; three sisters, Delia (Ken) Davis of Kansas City, MO, Simone Burns of Jacksonville, FL and Michele Borgman of Lee’s Summit, MO; two brothers, John Oliva of Bates City, MO and Ralph Oliva; and an aunt, Alice Goodwin; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Denis was preceded in death by his parents.
