David Thomas Umphfrey, 56, of Wellington, Missouri passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at home.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at the Walker-Nadler-Fuller Funeral Home, 1720 S. St., Lexington, MO, 64067, 660-259-2245, with Reverend Liz Deveney officiating. Visitation will be held two hours prior from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. David was born on July 11, 1959 in Smithville, MO to Albert Lee and Patricia Ruth (Schafer) Umphfrey. He graduated from Richmond High School in 1977. He married Ruth (Wisdom) Umphfrey and in 2011 she preceded him in death. He worked in the Maintenance Department for the Waverly Regional Youth Center for 20 plus years in Waverly, MO. In addition to spending time with his family and friends he enjoyed hunting, fishing and car racing. David was a member of the NRA.
Survivors include his mother, Patricia Ruth (Schafer) Harper of Richmond, MO; a sister, Diane (Umphfrey) Decker of Richmond, MO; a niece, Janine (Decker) Brand and husband Colby of Lexington, MO; a nephew, Grant Decker of Richmond, MO; a companion, Janice Stoops of Wellington, MO and a step-son, Chad Loyd of Richmond, MO.
In addition to his father and wife, David was preceded in death by a son David Thomas Umphfrey, Jr in infancy.
