David Michael Quinn, 77, of Odessa, Missouri passed away Monday, March 25, 2024, at Missouri Veterans Home in Warrensburg, Missouri surrounded by his family.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 6, 2024, at the First Baptist Church, 100 OO Hwy, Odessa, MO, 64076. A Celebration of Life will follow at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 6, 2024, at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to CPI-Care Package Inbound (backpacks for transitioning foster children) or First Baptist Church-(I Love Odessa) home and family help program. Mike was born February 6, 1947, in Topeka, Kansas to John Leo and Loretta M. (Heinisch) Quinn. He graduated from Hayden High School in Topeka. After high school Mike enlisted in the United States Navy, while in the Navy Mike earned the 1st Good Conduct Award and the National Defense Service Medal. On August 19, 1972, He was united in marriage to Marsha Kay Slocum in Topeka. Mike retired in 2009 after 33 years of service at Ortho Clinical Diagnostics. He was a charter member of Rolling Meadows Christian Church and later became a member of the First Baptist Church in Odessa. Mike taught Sunday School and was a volunteer for the Awanas at First Baptist. Mike was a very caring person, he saw the best in others, and was always lending a helping hand. In addition to spending time with family and friends, Mike was an avid reader, especially quote books, he loved to learn new things, smoke a good cigar, and thoroughly enjoyed animals, especially his dogs.
Mike is survived by his wife of 51 years, Marsha Quinn of Odessa, MO; four children, Aaron Michael Quinn of Odessa, MO, Adrienne Anderson and husband Stephen of Lee’s Summit, MO, Joel David Quinn and wife Michael Catherine of Ashland, MO, and Jessica Silvey and husband Levi of Lenexa, KS; seven grandchildren, Nolan Anderson, Cora Quinn, Jane Anderson, Chloe Quinn, Noel Silvey, Felix Silvey, and Vivian Quinn; one sister, Marilyn Yeoman and husband Frank of Topeka, KS; and many relatives and friends.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents.
