Daniel Wesley Preator, 68, of Odessa, Missouri passed away on Saturday, February, 2, 2019 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Blue Springs, MO.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at the Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, 306 S. 2nd St., Odessa, MO, 64076, 816-633-5524. A graveside Celebration of Life with Military Rites will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, February 7, 2019 at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, 20109 Bus. Hwy. 13, Higginsville, MO, 64037. Daniel was born on February 20, 1950 in Independence, MO to Rodney Daniel and Dorothy Helen (Bass) Preator. He graduated from Ft. Osage High School. On November 8, 1968 Daniel enlisted into the United States Army and served honorably until November 7, 1974. He served in the Vietnam War and earned the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Sharpshooter M-14 and the Sharpshooter M-16. On November 3, 1972 he married Brenda Lee (Holloway) Preator in Independence, MO. She survives of the home. Daniel worked for many years at Pink Hill Quarries, then for Union Wire and Rope and after 12 plus years he retired from Lake City Ammunition Maintenance Department. Daniel was a member of the Heavy Construction Laborers Union 663 in Kansas City. He enjoyed taking his 1929 Chevy to various car and truck shows including Truck National Shows and Odessa Puddle Jumpers car show. In addition to spending time with his family and friends Daniel enjoyed camping and the outdoors.
Daniel is survived by his wife, Brenda Lee Preator of Odessa, MO; four children, Susan Renee Kienzle (Timothy) of Kansas City, MO, Daniel Preator (Brandy) of Independence, MO, Kristina Kirchhoff of Odessa, MO and Dustin Holloway (Jean) of Lee’s Summit, MO; five grandchildren, Kayelynn, Johnathan, Bradly, Cody and Anna; one great grandchild, Jax Boyd; five sisters, Patricia King of Odessa, MO, Judy Boyce of Springfield, MO, Alma Atkinson (Tom), Penny Jones, Becky Dilday, all of Odessa, MO and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Daniel was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Haylee Preator and a sister Beverly Hudson.
