Clyde Ray Powell, 90 of Independence, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, at home surrounded by his loving family.

 Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, 306 S. 2nd St., Odessa, MO, 64076, 816-633-5524. A funeral service will follow at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will follow at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, MO. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the charity of donor’s choice. Memories of Clyde and condolences for his family may be left at www.LedfordFamilyFH.com or on our Facebook Page. 

 Clyde was born on June 24, 1934, in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Hubert William and Pauline Pearle (Stuart) Powell. He graduated in 1953 from William Chrisman High School. Clyde started working for Armco Steel in 1953 and shortly after was drafted into the United States Army. After honorably serving his country, Clyde went back to Armco Steel for a total of 30 years, retiring as a Forman in 1983. On January 30, 1959, Clyde was united in marriage to Earlene Middleton in Independence, MO. In addition to spending time with family and friends, Clyde enjoyed cars, he enjoyed building and fixing them, motorcycles, woodworking, mechanics, camping, and traveling especially to Colorado. 

 Clyde is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Earlene Powell of Independence, MO; two daughters, Carol Lynn Black and husband Dennis of Parkville, MO and Linda Lee Tucker of Brandon, Mississippi; five grandchildren, Melody Davis and husband Dax, Chad Black and wife Becky, Heather Berryman and husband Tommy, Ryan Black, and Alexandra Sturgeon and husband Grant; eight great grandchildren, Dawson Davis, Dylan Black, Devin Sparrow Black, Teryn Berryman, Lilly Berryman, Jensen Black, Tyson Berryman, and Jodie Belle Sturgeon; and many relatives and friends. 

 Clyde was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Virginia Lee Reed.
