Cleon Richard “Dick” Murry, 76, of Odessa, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at the New Haven Living Center in Odessa, MO.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 13, 2017 at the Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, 306 S. 2nd St., Odessa, MO 64076, 816-633-5524. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Friday at the funeral home. Burial with military rites will be in the Greenton Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the American Legion Post 286. Dick was born on June 15, 1940 in Odessa, MO to Cleon Forbes and Ruby Jewell (Barker) Murry. He graduated in 1958 from Odessa High School. Dick served in the United States Navy from April 24, 1963 until he was honorably discharged on April 23, 1966. He retired from Bendix as a Storekeeper in 1994 after 36 years of service. He married Helen (Boyer) Murry on July 8, 1995 in Odessa, MO. Dick was a member of the First Baptist Church and the American Legion Post 286 in Odessa. He also farmed and raised Black Angus cattle.
Dick is survived by his wife, Helen Murry of Odessa, MO; two children, Tony Murry, wife Brandy and granddaughter Kendall Murry of Blue Springs, MO and Renee Murry of Overland Park, Kansas and granddaughters Katie Snodgrass, Mackenzie Heriford and grandson Landon Heriford; and a stepson, Blaine Boyer of Blue Springs, MO.
In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by two sisters, Shelby Jean Zullig and Patsy Elizabeth Murry.
