Clarence Erwin Dothage, 81, of Lexington, Missouri, passed away at home on November 1, 2024, after a lengthy battle with cancer. In true “Kraut” fashion, he did not give up and never let his diagnosis keep him down.
Clarence was born on September 24, 1943, to Erwin and Esther Dothage in Lexington, Missouri. After Clarence graduated, he had the MFA gas station in Lexington. He also worked as a machinist, sold MoorMan’s Feed and retired as the Bulk Plant Manager of MFA Oil Company in Lexington.
In 1961, Clarence met Janice Estes at a Krazy Kats dance at the Lexington Auditorium. Clarence and Janice went on to have three children, Debbie (Danny) Thoman; Richard (Michelle) Dothage and Jimmy (Pam) Dothage. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this past March surrounded by family and friends. In addition to three children, they were blessed with many grandkids and great-grandkids. Tyler & Olivia Sexton (Beau and Parker); Jordan Thoman; Nathan Moore & Reagan Jones (Isabella); Paige Dothage & Dylon Pfeifer (Raeleigh); Paiton Dothage & Drake Eaton; Arial Creason (Trinity and Brooklyn); Stephanie & Josh Andrews (Evan); Courtney & Darrek Tate (Bristol and Bailee); Mindi & Damien Gordillo (Wrenley); Logan & Haley Junkins (Jayce), and “JT” Justin Thompson.
Clarence was a Little League Baseball coach and Scout Master for Boy Scott Troop 318. He was inducted into the Minutemen Athletic Hall of Fame. As an active member of the Minutemen Booster Club, he was instrumental in the building and completion of the current football stadium and wrestling room. He loved hunting, fishing, woodworking and gardening. In recent years he could be found in his woodshop or working in his large garden so he could take produce to family and friends. Clarence was a Lifetime Member of the Lexington Elks.
Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters: Louetta Soendker, Ethel Ruehter and Alvera Johnson, one brother, Ralph Dothage and one daughter-in-law, Michelle Dothage. He is survived by his wife Janice, his three children, their spouses, his grandkids and great-grandkids. He is also survived by one brother, Delmar (Sharon) Dothage.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 9, 2024, at the Walker-Nadler-Fuller Funeral Home, 1720 S. St., Lexington, MO, 64067, 660-259-2245.
