Cheryl Elaine Wood, 70, of Bates City, passed away April 22, 2018 at Redwood of Independence. Funeral service will be at 2:00 pm Saturday, April 28, 2018 at the Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, 306 South Second Street, Odessa, Missouri, 816-633-5524. Visitation will also be on Saturday at the funeral home from 1:00 until 2:00 pm. Burial will be in the Bates City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Disabled American Veterans.
She was born August 16, 1947 to Frank and Betty Jean (Bakert) Boyd. She graduated from Blue Springs High School. Cheryl married George Wood on April 11, 1969. He preceded her in death in 2003. She worked for the Internal Revenue Service for over 30 years as a Manager of Data Conversion. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and crafting.
Cheryl is survived by two sons, George Wood and wife Laura of Barnett, Missouri and James Wood of Athens, Tennessee; grandson, Daniel Wood and wife Angel of Vancouver, Washington; and four great grandchildren, Curtis, Ethan, Landon and Jenna Wood.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and grandson George Albert Wood.
