Charles Dewy Epperly, 87, of Lexington, Missouri passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2023, at Aspire of Oak Grove in Oak Grove, MO.
Graveside services will take place at 1:00 p.m., Monday, May 15, 2023, at Machpelah Cemetery in Lexington, MO. Charles was born on January 31, 1936, in Moberly, MO to Arthur T. and Mary V. (Munden) Epperly. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served six years before being honorably discharged. On June 7, 1970, he was united in marriage to Doris Jean (Alliett) Epperly. She preceded him in death on January 10, 2011. Charles retired from Lake City Ammunition in Kansas City. In addition to spending time with family and friends, Charles enjoyed playing horseshoes and craps, fishing, going on cruises, spending time at his lake house at the Lake of Ozark, but mostly being with his grandchildren.
Survivors include a sister, Debbie Fisher of Dodge City, KS; two grandchildren, Chris Vance of Oak Grove, MO and Stacie Scarborough of Grain Valley, MO; five great grandchildren, Torrie Theilbar (Tre) of Oak Grove, MO, Caleb Carlisle (Brooklyn) of Iowa City, IA, Dylan Scarborough of Blue Springs, MO, Peyteon Vance of Oak Grove, MO, Dalton Clemons of Oak Grove, MO, and Abbie Scarborough of Leawood, KS; numerous great-great grandchildren; two nieces, Machelle Elmore of Kansas City, MO and Paula Carter of Wellington, MO; and many relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents and wife, Charles was preceded in death by a grandson, Travis Vance; a sister, Joan Cognard; a brother, Jesse Epperly; and a nephew, Jim Epperly.
