Charles “Bus†W. Barker, Sr., 89, of Odessa, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at the Golden Living Center in Odessa, MO.
Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m., Monday May 12, 2014 at the First Baptist Church in Odessa, MO with Reverend Terry Hodges officiating. Visitation will be held, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Greenton Cemetery. Bus was born on May 4, 1925 in Odessa, MO to Elmer M. and Dora Mae (Day) Barker. On December 30, 1944 he was united in marriage to Viola Bernice (Murry) Barker in Olathe, Kansas. Bernice preceded him in death on December 25, 2013. After 28 years, Bus retired from Sear’s where he worked in the Catalogue Distribution Warehouse. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Odessa since 1944. His hobbies were playing the fiddle, guitar, banjo, playing cards, collecting clocks and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include four children, Janice Kratz and husband Gary of Odessa, C.W. Barker, Jr. and wife Jo Ann of Odessa, Rick Barker and wife Vickie of Odessa and Connie D. Stanton and husband Larry of Liberty, MO; nine grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren; a sister, Norma Jean Murry of Odessa, MO; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Bus was preceded in death by two grandchildren Joni and Darrell Barker; six brothers, David Allen, Myrul, Clyde, Matthew, Milton and John Barker; and two sisters, Ruby Murry and Sadie Belle Barker
