Cecil L. (Briggs) McDonald, 86 of Odessa, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Blue Springs, MO.
The family will host a Celebration of Life at 1:00 p.m., Monday, December, 11 2017 at the Second Baptist Church, 1201 Main St., Lexington, MO, 64067, with Reverend Everett Hannon, Jr. officiating. Cecil was born on March 21, 1931. The daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Earnest Briggs, in Dayton Texas. She graduated high school from Colbert high School in Dayton, Texas. She moved to Kansas City, Kansas in 1948 and then moved back to Texas in 1950. Cecil moved again to Kansas City, MO where she started working for Grand Avenue Bank. She joined Providence Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend L. A. McGhee. She was president of the choir, and also sang in the choir. She moved to Odessa, MO and worked for the Odessa Bank. She joined Second Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Author Mosby. She sang in the Choir and worked in the kitchen. After the church was dissolved she joined Second Baptist Church in Lexington, MO under the leadership of Reverend Hannon. She served on the usher board for a while. She loved her church and attended as much as she could.
She leaves to morn her home going, Frank Hudson of the home, Jessie Burden of Riverside, California, Ann Murphy of La Puente, CA; a niece, Barbara Jean Murphy-Redeaux and husband Ronald of Chino Hills, CA; her very good friends Francis Watkins of Odessa, MO, Alexandra Johnson of Kansas City, MO; and a host of friends.
In addition to her parents and first husband, George, Cecil was preceded in death by family member, Pearl Yarbrough and good friend Marjorie Hannon.
