A Funeral Mass for Cecil Lee Flynn, 77, of Wellington, Missouri will be held on Friday, September 2, 2011 at 11:00 am at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lexington. Visitation for Mr. Flynn will be held on Thursday, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at the Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home in Odessa. The Rosary will be recited at 6:00 pm on Thursday at the funeral home prior to visitation. Burial will be in the Wellington City Cemetary. Memorials may be made to the Lafayette County Community Health Foundation Scholarship Fund. Mr. Flynn died unexpectedly at his home on Monday, August 29, 2011. Cecil Lee Flynn was born October 21, 1933 in Blue Springs, Missouri to Joseph & Rowena Stayton Flynn. He married Mary Ruth Hart on August 15, 1959 in Excelsior Springs. Cecil graduated from Central Missouri State University in 1959. He later completed his Masters in Education Degree. Mr. Flynn taught for over 35 years, working in the North Kansas City, Excelsior Springs, and Wellington Napoleon school districts as well as Visitation Catholic School in Vienna, Missouri. In 1994 Mr. Flynn began his second career as a funeral director with the Walker Nadler Funeral Home in Lexington. In August of 2010 the Walker Nadler Fuller Funeral Home purchased the Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home in Odessa and Mr. Flynn became the full time funeral director in Odessa. Mr. Flynn was a popular cook in the Lafayette county area. He and his wife operated Flynns Restaurant in Wellington and a catering business for many years. Survivors include his wife, Ruth, of the home: Children, Paul and Sherry Ellensohn, Wellington; Kate Root, Odessa; Kelly and Jack Geringer, Wellington; Patrick Flynn, Cheryl Baird, and Rebecca Gnefkow, Kansas City, MO; Molly Flynn and Debbie Young, Kearney; and Marti Flynn, Higginsville: Grandchildren, Eric and Candace Ellensohn, Colbert and Brittany Root, Amanda Lee Root, Joseph Flynn Geringer, Samuel Geringer, and Allison Geringer; Great grandchildren, Kaylin and Ayden Ellensohn. Additional survivors include his brother, Cliff Flynn and wife Charlene, Mayview and sisters-in-law, Betty Porter and Pat Lamb, Excelsior Springs. Mr. Flynn was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister, Ruth Aileen Flynn, and an infant daughter, Sally Lee Flynn. Casket bearers will be: Curtis Flynn, Craig Flynn, Clinton Flynn, Cory Flynn, Lance Lamb, Jim Lamb, Stephen Porter, and Mike Root. Officiating at the funeral mass will be Father Christopher Smith and Father Terrell Finnell.
