Carol Sue (Rupp) Ireland

Carol Sue (Rupp) Ireland, 87, of Odessa, Missouri passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at Centerpoint Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

 Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 23, 2024, at Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, 306 S. 2nd St., Odessa, MO 64076, 816-633-5524. A Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 23, 2024, at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Greenton Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Boys Town or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Arbor Day Foundation.  Carol was born on November 18, 1936, in Hannibal, Missouri to David A. and Lucille (Smarr) Rupp. She graduated in 1954, top honors Co-Salutatorian from Odessa High School. Carol worked as a bookkeeper for Chevrolet Company from 1956 to 1978. From 1978 to the late 90’s, Carol worked for the Odessan Newspaper as a proofreader. Carol was united in marriage to Bill D. Ireland in Odessa, Missouri on November 19, 1955. He preceded her in death on January 9, 2019. Carol was catholic by faith. 

Carol was an avid sports fan, especially watching tennis and cheering for her favorite Missouri teams. Along with spending time with family, Carol enjoyed bowling, counted cross stitch, and crocheting. 

 Carol is survived by a daughter, Valli Kelley of Odessa, MO; four grandchildren, Timothy Kelley and significant other, Brandie, of Odessa, MO, Breann VanLanker and husband, Chad of Blue Springs, MO, Nichole Hunter and husband, Brandon of Odessa, MO, and William Kelley of Odessa, MO; four great grandchildren, Kelsey, Brenden, Raelyn, and Westen; one sister, Toni Hellums of Odessa, MO; one stepbrother, Bill Crittenden of Vincennes, IN, a son-in-law Michael Kelley of Odessa, MO; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. 

 Along with both her parents and husband, Carol was preceded in death by a stepsister, Karla Ulenbrock.
