Opal Faye Halsey

February 5, 1935 — March 14, 2013

Opal Faye Halsey 78, of Odessa, Missouri passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2013 at St. Marys Medical Center in Blue Springs, MO. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 16, 2013 at the Mt. Tabor Methodist Church with Reverend Terry Hodges officiating. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in Mt. Tabor Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Mt. Tabor Methodist Church. Opal was born on February 5, 1935 in Rich Hill, MO to Ocal C. and Sadie M. (Martee) Morgan. She graduated for Ward High School. On January 12, 1952 she married Walter James Halsey in Warrensburg, MO; he preceded her in death on February 3, 2004. She worked as a Cook in the kitchen of the Golden Living Center-New Haven in Odessa for 10 plus years. Opal loved to spend time with the grandkids, working on the family farm, raising horses, traveling, quilting and cooking. Opal was very proud of the quilt she made that was a prize winner recently at Puddle Jumper Days. Survivors include five children, Jim Halsey of Eldorado Springs, MO, Timothy Dean Halsey of Oak Grove, MO, Roy Halsey and wife Carla of Odessa, MO, Bill Halsey of Independence, MO, and Julia Gann and husband Troy of Mayview, MO; ten grandchildren, twenty three great-grandchildren, three brothers, Charlie Morgan of Wellington, MO, Freddie Miller of Kansas City, Kansas, Ronnie Miller of Yuma, Arizona, and a brother-in-law, Bill Halsey and wife Wahneta; five sisters, Ruby Bailey of Shawnee, KS, Marie Blacketer of Wellington, MO, Brenda Graham of Shawnee, KS, Darlene Gillespie of Kansas City, KS, Mary Howard of Topeka, KS; a dear friend Paul Wilson and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her twin sister, Donna LeBo, and a sister Marleen Chappel.
