Betty Kathern (Halsey) Winchell, 87, of Odessa, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at home.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, November 10, 2017 at the Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, 306 S. 2nd St., Odessa, MO, 64076, 816-633-5524. Graveside services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, November 11, 2017 at the Odessa Cemetery. Burial will follow at the cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Crossroads Hospice. Betty was born on April 14, 1930 in Bates City, MO to Albert and Della Cleo (Ward) Halsey. She owned and operated Betty’s Tavern in Odessa for many years. Betty enjoyed fishing, paint by numbers, crosswords puzzles, gardening, watching and feeding birds, and spending Sunday’s with her family playing pinochle.
Survivors include six children, Debra Simpson of Albany, Georgia, Donna Koehn and husband Oscar of McPherson, Kansas, Denise Winchell of Kansas City, MO, Wanda Grafton and husband Chris of Greenwood, MO, Wayne Winchell and David Winchell both of Odessa, MO; fourteen grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren; and two sisters, Noreen Wilson of Odessa, MO and Loreen Payne of Richmond, MO; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by four sisters, Jewell Lewis, Venita Barker, Francis Newborn and Mary Cannon.
