Betty Jean (Bakert) Boyd, 83, of Odessa, Missouri formerly a long time resident of Marshall, MO passed away on Tuesday June 24, 2014 at the Golden Living Center in Odessa.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday June 27, 2014 at Ridge Park Cemetery, 804 East Yerby, Marshall, MO, 65340, with Pastor Mark Gooden officiating. A visitation will be held on Thursday June 26, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the Ralph O. Jones Funeral Home, 306 South Second St., Odessa, MO, 64076, 816-633-5524. Ms. Betty was born on September 30, 1930 in Marshall, MO to James (Buger) & Lennie (Palmer) Bakert. Ms. Betty lived in Blue Springs, MO and worked as a beauty operator before returning to Marshall, MO. After returning to Marshall, she worked at the shoe factory for many years. She was united in marriage to Frank J. Boyd, Jr. on December 22, 1946 in Marshall, MO. After 65 years of marriage, Frank preceded her in death on July 26, 2009. Ms. Betty was well known in Marshall for her friendly smile, her welcoming company to the dinner table with a prepared meal for anyone who graced her front door. Her most favorite past times was sharing homemade goodies with all of her friends and neighbors. Ms. Betty loved garage sales, antiquing, and ordering from QVC shopping channel.
Survivors include a daughter Cheryl (Boyd) Wood of Bates City, MO and two grandchildren, James R. Wood of Odessa, MO and George Duane Wood of Odessa, MO; a great grandson, Daniel Wood; a brother, Ernest (Bingo) Bakert and wife Lea of Marshall, MO; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Ms. Betty was preceded in death by two sisters, Wilma Haynes and Barbara Bafford.
