Beth Renee (Maxwell) Burk, 62, of Jones Creek, Texas passed away August 21, 2023. Originally from Lexington, Missouri, Beth's life was a testament to her unwavering faith, love, and dedication to her family, community, and teaching.
A celebration of Beth's life will be held in two locations to honor her memory. Friends and family are invited to join for visitation on Saturday, August 26, 2023, at 10:00am, followed by a memorial service at 11:00am at First Baptist Church of Brazoria, TX. Additionally, services will take place in Lexington, MO. The visitation will be held on Friday, September 1, 2023, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Walker-Nadler-Fuller Funeral Home, with a memorial service on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at 10:00am at the First Baptist Church of Lexington, MO. Beth will be laid to rest in Lexington Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Born on December 24, 1960, in Lexington, Missouri, Beth was the cherished child of Donald and Mary Belle (Goodloe) Maxwell. She graduated from Lexington High School in 1979, actively participating in band, cheerleading, and various sports, including track, tennis, and volleyball. In recognition of her athletic prowess, she was honored with an induction into the LHS Athletic Hall of Fame in March 2023. Beth pursued her passion for education, majoring in Elementary Education at CMSU, and embarked on a fulfilling career at her alma mater. Her dedication to teaching and her genuine love for children were evident both in school and church settings. Her profound calling to teach emerged in her early years, and this vocation remained her lifelong devotion. Beth taught at Leslie Bell Elementary in Lexington, MO, for 15 years, and Barrow (Brazoria) Elementary in Brazoria, TX, for 17 years. Her commitment extended to Sunday School and various children’s ministries, touching the lives of countless young minds, each of whom she considered her own. She was a member of First Baptist Church Brazoria, TX, where she found joy in serving in the choir and deepening her relationship with the Lord. She loved the Lord and trusted him to be her savior at 12 years old.
Diagnosed with stage four breast cancer in 2014, Beth faced her battle with incredible strength. Throughout numerous treatments and procedures, her tenacious spirit remained unbroken. Even in her final moments, she displayed the same determination that marked her athletic pursuits, crossing the finish line to reunite with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in heaven.
Survivors include her husband of 32 years, Mark, of the home; daughter AuBree (Burk) Hartley, son in law Jake Hartley, and granddaughter Amelia Hartley, all of Kansas City, MO; son David Burk student at University of North Texas in Denton, TX; parents, Donald and Mary Belle (Goodloe) Maxwell of Lexington; and brother, Eric Maxwell and sister in law April (Dye) Maxwell, of Lexington.
