Bertha Caroline (Lichte) Riekhof, 87, of Lexington, passed away September 24, 2020 at Lafayette Regional Health Center, Lexington. A graveside service will be Friday, November 13, 2020 at 1:00 pm at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville. Bertha was born September 3, 1933 in Lexington to Herman and Johannah (Tempel) Lichte. She graduated from Lexington High School in 1951. On January 13, 1952 she married Kenneth Riekhof in Lexington. He preceded her in death April 2, 2019. Bertha retired from the Lafayette County Assessor’s Office in 1981. She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ where she directed the choir and was a substitute accompanist. She enjoyed sewing and quilting.
Survivors include her three daughters, Brenda “BJ” Salyer and husband David of Higginsville, Deborah Heisinger and husband Pat of Apopka, Florida and Laurie Riekhof of Union, Missouri; grandchildren, Justin Salyer and wife Teri of Higginsville, Nathan Salyer of Overland Park, Kansas, Jordan Salyer and wife Clara of Higginsville and Brianne Beers and husband Josh of Knoxville, Tennessee; and great grandchildren, Atticus Kerivan, Garrison, Nolan, Ellynore, and Paxten Salyer. Bertha was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers, Melvin Lichte, Forrest Lichte and Herman Lichte; and sister, Marie Dickmeier.
