Beatrice Elizabeth Parker, 91, of Excelsior Springs, MO formerly of Lexington, MO, passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at Convalescent Care Center in Excelsior Springs. Beatrice Elizabeth Hotmer was born September 9, 1922 in Wellington, MO, the daughter of Charles B. and Margaret Ann Gassen Hotmer, who owned the Hotmer-Jelicia coal mines. She was the last survivor of seven children-Joseph, Mary Margaret, William, Francis, (Bea), Leonard and Charles, Jr. She was raised in the Lexington area and attended Immaculate Conception grade school until 8th grade. She married C. Ryland Parker on October 12, 1945, who preceded her in death on April 30, 1988. After moving from the family homestead in Lexington, she lived in Odessa for a short time, then returned to Lexington and purchased a home on Garfield. She later moved to the Lexington Care Center and finally in December, 2011 to the Convalescent Care Center in Excelsior Springs. Beatrice was a homemaker most of her life, but had worked in the shoe factory and for several years, during apple harvest season, at the Vollenweider Orchards west of Lexington. One of her favorite pastimes was crocheting and she made several beautiful dollies, tablecloths, and bedspreads. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lexington and a member of the church Altar Society. Her closest friends were Elsa Oliaro and sister-in-law, Wahneta Hotmer. Her caregiver during the last several years was Rose McKay who dedicated many hours watching over, visiting and caring for her. Many of the local police were friends and she enjoyed teasing with them and as she would say �cuttin up� with them, especially Mark Lamphier and Don Rector. Survivors include 3 sisters-in-law, Helen Parker Hotmer, Odessa, JoAnn Hotmer Johnson, Warren, Ark. and Bonnie Parker Neece, Lexington. There are many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews surviving. Services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 12, 2014 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lexington. Burial in Lexington Memory Gardens. Visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church with Rosary at 10:40 a.m. Memorials may be made to the Altar Society at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
