Alonzo Lee Hannon, Jr., 66 of Lexington, Missouri passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at home.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 31, 2024, at Lexington United Methodist Church, 1211 S. Bus. Hwy 13, Lexington, MO, 64067. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church. The interment will be in Lexington Memory Gardens Cemetery. Alonzo (affectionately known as June or Junebug) was born on January 15, 1958, in Lexington, MO to Alonzo Lee Hannon, Sr. and Earnestine (Sadler) Hannon. He graduated in 1976 from Lexington High School and excelled in football, basketball, and especially track and field. After high school he attended the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, MO. Alonzo was raised and baptized in the Zion A.M.E. Church in Lexington and later transferred his membership to the Second Baptist Church in Lexington. He worked for Lake City Army Ammunition Plant, North American Van Logistics Transportation Lines as an over the road truck driver and was currently working as a part time bus driver for Ecco Ride of Missouri in the Higginsville School District. Alonzo loved people and helping his community, he is a former Lexington School Board Member and a former Lexington City Council Member. Alonzo is a current Lexington Minutemen Booster Club Member. In addition to serving on many local boards, he also coached high school track and Little League Football. Outside of serving his community, Alonzo enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, he will be greatly missed.
Alonzo is survived by five siblings, Lonetta (Reggie) Kingcannon of Atlanta, Georgia, Jerome Hannon of Lexington, MO, Timothy (Deborah) Hannon of Gladstone, MO, Ameka Price of Jonesboro, GA, and Carmen Hannon of Fayetteville, GA, as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Alonzo was preceded in death by his parents, his oldest sister Renee Hicks, and both sets of his grandparents.
