Alma V. Richter, 94, of Odessa passed away on May 26, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family. Funeral services for Alma will be held on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at 11:00 am at the First United Methodist Church, Odessa. Mo. Visitation for Alma will be held from 10:00 am until service time on Tuesday at the church. Interment will be at the New Hurley Cemetery, Wallkill, New York later in the week. Memorials may be made to the Trails Regional Library, Odessa Branch or the Benevolent Fund at the First United Methodist Church, Odessa.
Alma Virginia Fowler was born on June 11, 1921 at Walden, New York to Mayland L. and Emma Cole Fowler. She married Robert George Richter on May 30, 1946 in Walden, New York. Bob preceded Alma in death on April 18, 2007. Alma was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Odessa and the United Methodist Women, she was also a member of the OES-Walden, NY, as well as the OES Odessa Chapter and the OES-Eastgate, Independence, MO. Alma was past Worthy Matron of both the Odessa and Independence-OES chapters. Alma was also a member of the General Federation of Women's Club. Alma retired from Transcontinental Freight Line where she had worked as a clerk. Prior to that she had worked at St. Luke's Hospital, Newburgh, NY. And Presbyterian Hospital New York, NY.
Survivors include her daughter Suzanne C. Harris, Odessa, a granddaughter, Kendra Redden and husband, Brad, Odessa. There are two grandsons, Joe Redden and Pat Redden, Odessa. Alma was preceded in death by her parents, and husband.
