Alice Etoile (Eldredge) Flournoy, 105, of Higginsville, Missouri, formerly of Odessa, MO, passed away on Friday, February 28, 2025, at Meyer Care Center in Higginsville, MO.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at the Odessa Cemetery in Odessa, MO. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Holden H.O.P.E. Coalition, 100 S. Alice was born on November 24, 1919, in Holden, MO to Eli A. and Myrtle E. (Merritt) Eldredge. She graduated from Holden High School in 1937 and attended Missouri Valley College in Marshall, MO. On September 8, 1957, she was united in marriage to Garth Flournoy at the Blue Ridge Presbyterian Church in Raytown, MO. Garth preceded her in death on September 29, 2020. Alice and Garth lived in Independence, MO for 30 years, moving to the Odessa area in 1988 upon retiring from Missouri Public Service Co. after forty-five years of service. Alice was a member of the New Horizon Presbyterian Church and had served on the session and other church activities. Alice was an accomplished hand and loom weaver and seamstress, and was a member of the Hand Weavers Guild of Arrow Rock, MO. She said life began at retirement, and enjoyed every moment.
Alice is survived by two nieces, Ann Rai and husband Dhanpat of Yachats, OR, and Marla Struebin and husband Bruce Abbotts of Salem, OR; and many friends. Her dear friend, Dorothy Peck, was the sister she never had.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a brother, L.C. Eldredge.
