Alberta Mae (Tilly) Beissenherz was born October 4, 1931 in rural Wellington, Missouri, to August and Bertha (Grumke) Tilly. She passed away January 28, 2025 at her home.
Alberta graduated from Wellington High School in 1949. She later went to work for Dunbrooke in Lexington, Missouri, and attended Central Missouri State College for a year before returning to work at Dunbrooke. She married Donald (Buddy) Beissenherz on May 10, 1953. He preceded her in death on June 25, 2013. They built their home in Wellington in 1959, where Buddy had a service station and later operated Wellington Hardware & Supply. Alberta took some time away from Dunbrooke while the boys were little and worked seven tax seasons with H & R Block. In 1997, Alberta retired from Dunbrooke with over 38 years of service.
Alberta was a member of St. Luke Evangelical Free Church. She loved being a part of the Women’s Fellowship, attending and helping with Sunday School classes and Vacation Bible School. She was a faithful servant of the Lord.
Bertie, as Buddy would call her, was a very special lady. Together they enjoyed AARP, the Bee Squares square dancing club, gardening, volunteering at Royals games, enjoying family time in the backyard, trips and get-togethers with their siblings, and attending sporting events. Alberta also enjoyed exercising at the CCC, playing games on her iPad, checking in on Facebook, sewing, quilting, garage sales, and thrift stores. But the thing Alberta enjoyed most of all is the people she shared life with. She was always giving freely of her time and energy. She loved her people and community. She loved socializing with her friends and playing cards, and she was an avid fan of the WN Tigers, the Missouri Tigers, the Royals, and the Chiefs. Alberta found the good in all people and nothing brought her more pride or joy than her family.
